How to Fill Out A Deposit Slip

Click on image to make bigger
Today's lesson is over how to fill out a deposit slip at your local friendly bank.

Here are some basic instructions

1. Please put the date.

2. Please write how much cash on the cash line.

3. You don't have to write down the checks, it is preferred, but please just add up the checks and cash together and place it in the sub total line.

4. If you want CASH BACK write it in the LESS CASH RECEIVE line.

5. Sign your name on the line that says Sign if Less Cash Received.

6. Finally write the total. If you are receiving cash back then subtract the amount of cash from the subtotal.

Subtotal - less cash receive (cash back) = total

  • If you are receiving cash back please send or give your id to the teller.
With all the fraud going on we just want to make sure no one is trying to steal your money. You may have been backing there for 60 years but we see over 200 faces per day and you may only come in once a month. As hard as we try, we cannot remember everyone.

  • We will give the id back, i promise. If we accidentally do not send it back it was not on purpose. We seriously do not want it.

  • If your id is expired we most likely will not accept it. Don't get mad at us, because I know you wouldn't get mad at a police officer if they told you the same thing.

  • Please don't cure at me if I cannot give you account information on an account you are not on. How would you feel if I did that for someone wanting your account information? Plus it's the law. I cannot do it.

  • There is a difference between a checking deposit slip and a checking withdraw, one is putting money in and the other is taking money out.

  • Also a checking deposit slip is not the same as a savings deposit slip. I know they seem the same but they are not. Not only are they different in color but their purpose is completely different. Therefore please fill out the right slip for the right account.

  • The Bank is not out to get you. However the government might and they require us to do certain things. It is my job to follow the law. If you do not like the law call your congressman or anyone in government to complain because I'm just a teller. it's not going to do any good to complain to me.

That is all for now. Class Dismissed.
