Once Apon A Time

Tonight was an inspiration to me.
It happened in my math class. We were going around introducting ourselves, like you do in every one of your classes on your first day. And one of the people in my class said "My adopted one" and it really struck a nerve.

I don't think I've told you this but I am adopted.

So hearing a parent refer to their child as "the adopted one" really bothered me.

So I want to write my story. We'll start with the beginning, the intro.

I was born in southern texas by two loving people. My mother was 19 when she became pregnant and my father was 20. They are both very passionate about soccer, that is actually how they met. My father was her coach. Before you become to shocked, remember the age difference, not that bad in all reality.

My parents where the type of people who never dated. My mother up until she got married only had 3 boyfriends her whole life. My parents did love each other very much. Although they loved each other some bumps and a fork in the road came along for me. The decision was made to put me up for adoption to give me a better life.

One Year and Six Months

One year and six months ago
I married my husband.
It is absolutely incredible how amazing the past year and half has been
It's been pretty up and down but non the less it's been awesome.

I am still currently unemployeed with no health insurance but I know God will provide.
I am have a ton of great ideas for our youth group
I cannot wait to put them into action.

I absolutely love my husband
His eyes are doing really good and we don't go back to the eye doc for a month which is great.
Even though his eyes are not at their full potential he is already able to see better than he could before the surgery.
I am so happy for him.
Well now i have to get ready for class.

Have a wonderful day!

So a few things have changed

my life has recently changed in a few ways... some good some not so good.

We'll start with the not so good.
I quit my job at the bank. Good but not so good when it's been hard to find another job.
Hopefully something works out soon because I could really use a job.

The good news is my husband got eye surgery.
A PRK to be exact.
It's been pretty entertaining around here.

I had a interview for a job and they have been giving me the run around but as far as I can tell I'm the only one that the manager wants to hire. So as soon as he gets the go light from the store itself he'll give me a call.
So hopefully that works out soon.

That's all that's been going on around here.
School started today
I only have one more year to go and then I'll be done. So this time next year I'll be starting my semester of student teaching :-D Hooray!

How to Fill Out A Deposit Slip

Click on image to make bigger
Today's lesson is over how to fill out a deposit slip at your local friendly bank.

Here are some basic instructions

1. Please put the date.

2. Please write how much cash on the cash line.

3. You don't have to write down the checks, it is preferred, but please just add up the checks and cash together and place it in the sub total line.

4. If you want CASH BACK write it in the LESS CASH RECEIVE line.

5. Sign your name on the line that says Sign if Less Cash Received.

6. Finally write the total. If you are receiving cash back then subtract the amount of cash from the subtotal.

Subtotal - less cash receive (cash back) = total

  • If you are receiving cash back please send or give your id to the teller.
With all the fraud going on we just want to make sure no one is trying to steal your money. You may have been backing there for 60 years but we see over 200 faces per day and you may only come in once a month. As hard as we try, we cannot remember everyone.

  • We will give the id back, i promise. If we accidentally do not send it back it was not on purpose. We seriously do not want it.

  • If your id is expired we most likely will not accept it. Don't get mad at us, because I know you wouldn't get mad at a police officer if they told you the same thing.

  • Please don't cure at me if I cannot give you account information on an account you are not on. How would you feel if I did that for someone wanting your account information? Plus it's the law. I cannot do it.

  • There is a difference between a checking deposit slip and a checking withdraw, one is putting money in and the other is taking money out.

  • Also a checking deposit slip is not the same as a savings deposit slip. I know they seem the same but they are not. Not only are they different in color but their purpose is completely different. Therefore please fill out the right slip for the right account.

  • The Bank is not out to get you. However the government might and they require us to do certain things. It is my job to follow the law. If you do not like the law call your congressman or anyone in government to complain because I'm just a teller. it's not going to do any good to complain to me.

That is all for now. Class Dismissed.

I don't think I'm offending our Lord

So today at work was pretty normal. I always find a way to offend someone whenever I am there. It is never on purpose but it always seems to happen.

We were talking about Halloween costumes. Most of the people I work with have children and were talking about their children's costumes. However I do not have children but I always think about my future kids and the things I hope they do.

I know this sounds funny but this is my hope and dream for my children. I would love my son to come up to me and say "I want to dress up as my hero." then I'll ask who that is and he'll say "Jesus!" I don't know why but I would love that. So I said that in front of a regular customer who is like a customer friend to most of us so I didn't think she'd mind. However this is what she said

"You are offending our Lord"

I could not believe she said that. I know everyone has a right to their own opinion however I don't think that is truly an opinion I think it was more of a statement. I was so hurt. I am a youth ministers wife, I attend church, I call God Daddy or Dad on a regular bases. Honestly I think God would smile upon my son if he wanted to dress up as him. I think it would be offensive if my son thought he was God and I can see how that would be offensive but how I presented my idea was not in that intent. I clearly said "I hope my son is so overjoyed with Christ that he wants to dress up as him because Jesus is his hero." I then told her that I did not believe it would be offensive and she muttered under breath that I must be very protestant. I then found out she is very Catholic and Italian. Wonderful. I was still very hurt. I wished her well and then I went to the back heated and wanting to cry, instead I ate three cookies.

Great.

Letter to Future Self

Dear Future Me

I am 21 and I am married, no children, no property of my own, live in a crappy house, husband and I both work part-time, I am in my jr. year of college hopefully graduating in the spring of 2011.

I have big dreams, ones that would provide children with more resources and a better education. My dream is to be a teacher, I am doing everything I can to make sure that dream comes true. However I feel I may be stressing to much to reach this goal. I want to make this world a better place and I sometimes fear I will fail. That I wont be a good teacher and wont make a difference in anyones lives. I feel that these dreams are not out of selfish motive, I really do want to bring goodness to the world to only leave this place better than the way I entered it.

Should I be worried? I know it is satan who puts those thoughts into my mind and tries to discourage me from doing my best, but in all honesty will I reach my dreams? I truly hope so.

I also sometimes worry that I wont be a good mother. I want my children to have the same desires to make this world a better place, to be productive, active citizens of whatever country they choose. I want them to wait to have sex and save their hearts for the one God has for them and let God be the ruler of their lives. I fear that I wont accomplish this and my children will end up in jail and hate me. I plan on being a great mother who does nothing but love and provide them with all the resources I can for a bright future. Will I be a great mother? Will my children love and adore me but even more do I love and adore my children? Am I able to have children?

Will Darrell finish his education and be offered a full-time position at a church? Will he make a difference in his youth lives?

Future self I hope you are still happy and full of joy. I hope you are living your life to the fullest and are enjoying ever moment of your life. I hope you love Darrell just as much as I do now if not more. I hope you are loving your job and not regretting your choice to be a teacher, because remember how hard you worked. Remember all the doubts and comments made towards you. How your teachers wanted to hold you back and how when you were in 8th grade you were finally considered avearge in reading and you balled your eyes out because you had worked so hard for years. You did it. You reached your dreams and I hope you have no regrets.
I hope you have no enemies and tons of friends. I hope my fab 4 are still your very best friends in the whole world and if not I hope you are still on good terms and talk every so often and remember the good old days. My hope for you is that you still love life to the fullest and your relationships are the best they can be. I hope mom and dad are grandparents and phillip and katherine are happy aunts and uncles and parents of their own. I hope my biological parents are still in your life and you talk often.

I hope your are the happiest you can possibly be, live to the fullest.

Keep the faith, be true to yourself. Love God, love your husband, love your kids, family and friends. Love.
